We would like to introduce ourselves! We are sisters-Savannah (age 18) and Faith (age 17). We both have Central Coremyopathy, a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy. We were diagnosed when we were little and spent a lot of time in the hospital and in body casts! We live in a big family of special people: ramps, lifts and wheelchairs are a part of our daily life.
Having MD can be really hard sometimes. It stinks when your muscles don't work the way we want them to. Sometimes it is hard to just put on our socks! The hardest part is not knowing what the future will look like for us. We don't know what will happen with our muscles so the future is uncertain!
Having MD means we take a little longer to do things but it also means we have to be tough! You have to be smart to beat MD! We find different ways to do the things that everyone else does.
We are proud to be the ambassadors of the Burnaby Walk because it is something we can do to FIGHT. Every dollar that is donated helps us to find a cure. Nobody fights this battle alone. We believe that one day there will be a cure but until then we have to be a strong TEAM!
We are walking/wheeling for everyone who cannot walk or wheel for themselves. If we all do just a little.........
See you at the Walk on June 24th!
