Presenting the 2018 Burnaby Walk Ambassador: Jordan Marks!

On June 16, I ask that you walk with me to support the thousands of Canadians with neuromuscular disorders and their families. I am participating in the Walk for Muscular Dystrophy because I know the significant support and resources that Muscular Dystrophy Canada offers to those in need.

My name is Jordan Marks. I am 27 years old and I was born with Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Since the moment I was diagnosed at 3 years old, MDC was there to offer my family and me guidance. As I grew up navigating life with a physical disability, MDC was there to support me and encourage me to live life independently. When I needed a new wheelchair, MDC was there to assist. When I needed to put in an accessible door opener so I could enter and exit my home independently, MDC was there. Through their numerous scholarships and bursaries, MDC also helped make the financial burden of attending post-secondary a little more bearable.

As a result, in part, of MDC’s unwavering support, I have been able to attain my dream of attending law school and becoming a lawyer. Undoubtedly, living my life independently would not be possible without the long-lasting assistance of MDC.

So, please, sign up for the walk today and reach out to your networks in an effort to raise funds.
