Good morning, good afternoon, and goodnight, let me start off by introducing myself. My name is Jeff Poirier and I am so honored to be the 2018 Muscular Dystrophy Canada's walk ambassador to represent this beautiful province of PEI. I was born in Calgary but raised here on this wonderful island that I am proud to call HOME.
At the age of 16, I was diagnosed with Friedreich's Ataxia, a form of muscular dystrophy. At the age of 18, I was confined to a wheelchair due to the progression of the disease.
I struggled and had to overcome many different obstacles through my life but I always try to come out on top with a smile on my face. As of right now there is no treatment or cure but went to all this new technology they're so close to find a treatment or maybe even the cure my fingers are crossed.
There is no greater feeling then knowing you helped others. I know this is a time of struggle but if we all come together to give a donation even if it is just a $1, it all counts towards equipment that people like me can not afford and money for research for treatment.
This year we have changed up the location of the Walk- it will be held in Summerside June 9th at Green Shores Boardwalk. Registration will be starting at 11, if you care to start a team up you are more than welcome just go on down to the website and register or you can leave a donation on my page if you choose.
Thank you for all your help and support.
